Event description

Join Dr. Fabiana Bressan, GFI grantee and Associate Professor at the University of Sao Paulo, to learn about the potential of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) generated through cellular reprogramming for cultivated meat production. This seminar will explore stem cell biology and the generation of iPSCs, relevant applications, and recent advances in the field. Dr. Bressan will provide perspectives on how this emerging technology can advance animal-free protein production to address the issues of foodborne diseases, industrial animal agriculture, and the meat industry’s ecological footprint.

Fabiana F. Bressan, DMV

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
UNIVERSITY OF SAO PAULO (FZEA/UP)

Dr. Fabiana Bressan is an Associate Professor at the Veterinary Medicine Department at the University of São Paulo, FZEA/USP. She graduated from the Veterinary Medicine program at the University of São Paulo in 2005. She obtained her M.Sc. degree in 2008 and Ph.D. in 2013. Her research focused on working with cell reprogramming by gene induction into pluripotency and nuclear transfer and stem cells in human and animal models. She completed her postdoctoral studies in stem cells and cell therapy at the National Institute of Science and Technology. At FZE/USP, she focused on the study of in vitro generation of primordial germ cells, gametes, and epigenetic reprogramming.
